How the score works

Your report gives two scores, because a resume can fail in two different ways. The overall score combines them, and the scanner is rule-based: the same file always gets the same result.

Readability 40% of your overall score

Can a hiring system read it?

Starts at 100 and loses points for each problem that stops software reading your file properly:

  • Tables, text boxes, columns and sidebars
  • Text in headers and footers, or saved as an image
  • Missing sections or contact details
  • Very short or very long resumes
  • Inconsistent dates, rating bars, heavy use of capitals
Evidence 60% of your overall score

Does it prove your value?

Starts at zero and is earned, because a tidy resume that says nothing specific should not score well:

  • Measurable results: up to 50 points (full marks when 4 in 10 bullets carry a number)
  • Action language: up to 25 (strong openers instead of "Responsible for")
  • A profile or summary: 10
  • Detail per bullet: up to 15 (around 14 words a bullet)

Grades: A is 85 and above, B 70–84, C 55–69, D 40–54, F below 40. A resume with five or more bullets and no numbers in any of them is capped at C, however tidy it is.

What a finding looks like

Before

• Responsible for managing the company’s social media accounts.

Flagged: weak opener (“Responsible for”), no number, no result.
After

• Grew Instagram followers from 2,000 to 11,500 in eight months by planning a weekly content calendar.

Strong opener, two numbers, a clear result.

An illustration, not a real person’s resume. Your report lists every bullet like this, with the reason it was flagged.

Questions people ask

Is the resume scan really free?

Yes. Two scans without an account, five a day with a free one. There is no card and no trial.

What is an ATS?

An applicant tracking system: the software an employer uses to collect and sort applications. It reads your file and pulls it apart into fields before a person sees it.

Which file types can I upload?

DOCX or PDF, up to 5 MB. DOCX usually gives the most accurate read, because the text is easier to extract reliably.

Do you keep my resume?

Files from anonymous scans are deleted after 90 days. With an account they stay until you delete them, and you can remove any scan at any time.

Will my resume be sent to recruiters?

No. Nothing is shared unless you choose to publish a profile page yourself.

How long does the scan take?

About 30 seconds. You get a score out of 100, four graded areas and the specific findings behind them.

How is the resume score worked out?

Your overall score is 40% readability (can a hiring system read the file?) and 60% evidence (does the content prove what you achieved?). Every point lost is tied to a specific finding in your report, so you can see exactly what to fix.

Is the scanner AI?

No. It is rule-based, so the same file always gets the same score and every result can be explained.

Should I put my IC number, race or religion on my resume in Malaysia?

No. None of them helps an employer judge your work, and leaving them out protects your personal data. Give them only if an employer's application form asks for them.

How long should a resume be in Malaysia?

One page is usually enough for fresh graduates and two pages for most experienced roles. The scanner flags resumes under about 400 words as thin, because they rarely show scale or results.

Should I write my expected salary on my resume?

No. Keep it for the application form or the interview, and check the typical range for your role first with the free salary benchmarks tool.

Does a high score guarantee an interview?

No. It means a system can read your resume and that the content shows evidence. Matching it to each job matters just as much, which is what the keyword checker is for.
