On 7 November 2026, FindPrimeJobs listed 2,301 open jobs in Malaysia from 105 companies, with 1,232 of them posted in the previous 30 days. Just over half are in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, Penang accounts for another 23%, and none of the listings showed salary information. Here is what those numbers mean for your job search.
All figures come from the FindPrimeJobs Malaysia Job Market Report, which counts every job live on the site on the day, from employers' own careers sites, job feeds and employers who post with us. Copies of the same job from different sources are counted once. The figures are a snapshot of listings on our platform, not a count of every vacancy in Malaysia.

Where are the jobs in Malaysia right now?
Selangor has the most open jobs (601), followed closely by Kuala Lumpur (573) and Penang (539). Together the three account for about three in four of all listings. Johor is fourth with 175, then a long tail: Sarawak (44), Kedah (31), Perak (19), Sabah and Labuan (15), and fewer than 10 each in Melaka, Pahang, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan and Terengganu.
What it means for you: the Klang Valley and Penang offer the widest choice. If you live elsewhere, start with your own state, and consider opportunities in a nearby hub if you are open to commuting, relocating or hybrid work.

Which companies are hiring the most?
The companies with the most open roles this month are Celestica (133), Bosch (101), and Grab, Turner & Townsend and Western Digital (around 100 each), followed by Ninja Van (92), Micron Technology (88), SGS (64), IKEA (Ikano Retail) (62) and Continental (57).
Several of these companies work in electronics and semiconductors, with significant operations in Penang. Their presence is one factor that may contribute to the state's strong showing. Logistics (Ninja Van, Grab), engineering consultancy (Turner & Townsend), testing and inspection (SGS) and retail (IKEA) complete the list.
What it means for you: a company with dozens of open roles may have several that match your experience. Rather than sending the same application to all of them, pick the roles that best fit your background and tailor your resume to each one.
Which fields have the most openings?
Many employers don't tag their jobs with a standard category: 1,341 listings (58%) fall under "Other", which makes it harder to see hiring demand by industry. Among the jobs that are categorised, the largest groups are Engineering (119), Real estate (97), Manufacturing (89) and Information Technology (71), followed by Sales (33) and Production (20).
What it means for you: don't assume a job isn't relevant because its category is missing or looks wrong, and don't rely on category filters alone. Search by job title and key skills instead, for example "process engineer", "quantity surveyor" or "data analyst".
Do Malaysian job ads show salaries?
None of the 2,301 listings showed salary information on FindPrimeJobs this month. That makes it harder to judge whether a role fits your expectations, and it can make salary conversations more difficult when an employer asks for your expected salary without giving a range.
What it means for you: prepare a realistic monthly salary range before you apply, based on your experience, the role's responsibilities and current market benchmarks. Our free salary benchmarks show typical ranges by role and seniority. Be ready to explain your expectations, while staying open to discussing the overall package.
Full-time, contract or internship?
Of the 1,091 listings that state an employment type, most are full-time (923), followed by contract (72), internship (61) and part-time (35). The other 1,210 listings (53%) don't say, so check the job description before you apply.
Students and fresh graduates: 61 internships are open right now. Search "intern" on the job board, or see our internships page.
What are resumes on FindPrimeJobs getting wrong?
We looked at the anonymous results of 498 resumes scanned on FindPrimeJobs in the last 90 days. These findings reflect resumes submitted to our scanner and point to common issues among its users; they are not a representative survey of all Malaysian resumes.
The median overall score was 56 out of 100 on the FindPrimeJobs resume assessment, which combines how easily a hiring system can read the file with how well the content shows results. The same few problems came up again and again:
| Problem found | Share of resumes |
|---|---|
| Too few achievements with numbers | 88% |
| Bullets that start with weak or passive wording ("Responsible for…") | 60% |
| No LinkedIn link | 50% |
| Columns or a sidebar in the layout | 31% |
| Under 400 words, often too little detail (less of an issue for fresh graduates) | 26% |
While 88% had too few quantified achievements, 28% had no measurable results at all: not a single bullet containing a number. And 91% were uploaded as PDF files. A text-based PDF is generally fine for many modern applicant tracking systems (ATS). However, complex layouts, multiple columns, text boxes and sidebars can sometimes cause problems, with information read in the wrong order or missed entirely. (See how ATS software reads your resume.)
What it means for you: for most people, the quickest win is showing results with numbers and starting each bullet with a strong verb. Our bullet rewriter helps, and our guide on making your resume ATS-friendly covers the layout.
