How it works

1. Reads the job ad

Picks out the skills, tools, qualifications and phrases the employer emphasises, with extra weight on the requirements section.

2. Checks your resume

Looks for each one, including common variations, so "MS Excel" counts for "Excel" and "BSc" counts for "degree".

3. Shows the gaps

Lists what's found, what's missing and what's worded differently, so you know exactly where to tailor.

Frequently asked questions

How does the resume keyword checker work?

It reads the job description and picks out the skills, tools, qualifications and phrases the employer emphasises, giving extra weight to anything listed under requirements. It then checks your resume for each one, including common variations, so "MS Excel" counts for "Excel" and "managed stakeholders" counts as related wording for "stakeholder management".

Is a higher percentage always better?

Not on its own. The percentage shows how much of this job ad your resume reflects. Aim to cover the requirements you genuinely meet, in the employer's terminology. Adding terms you can't back up won't help at interview.

What do "related wording" and "alternative" mean?

Related wording means every word of a phrase appears in your resume, but not together. Using the exact phrase, where it's accurate, makes the match clearer. Alternative means the ad offers a choice, such as "Power BI or Tableau", and your resume already has one of them.

Is my resume stored?

No. Your text is analysed and discarded. We keep only an anonymous count that a check happened, so we can improve the tool.

How is this different from the ATS resume scanner?

The keyword checker compares your content with one specific job. The ATS scanner checks your resume file itself: whether it can be read, whether sections are detected, and how strong your bullets are. Use both before an important application.
